Brainstorming Tip

Whether you're exercising a fishbone analysis or just brainstorming pain points for later root cause analysis, one tip that helps to clarify ideas and "keeping it real" is to write (2) things on a 3x5 post-it.

CiKATA Lean Six Sigma 4.0 Brainstorming Tip
  1. In the top portion of the post-it write a "FACT" or a known behavior about the process. Let's face it, facts are the quickest way to get to root cause or obvious solutions.

  2. Below the "FACT" write the "implication" of the FACT. The implication helps to connect the fact with some context to minimize the need for later clarification. The implication also serves as a tool for affinitizing these facts into themes for root cause analysis.

Do these two things and you'll reduce the time it takes to arrive at your brainstorming destination.
